The digital revolution has changed photography in many ways. One effect is how wedding and family photography is beginning to change with the trends in fashion and style. Now that every photographer can style style their work to their heart’s content on a personal computer, it’s becoming hard to tell the difference between a Vogue spread and a senior portrait shoot. I think this is for the better, as long we don’t succumb to too many trends at the same time….but then, what do you do with all your multiple-exposed, grunge filtered, images shot with tilt-shift lenses? Put them in a Kolo album to tone it down a bit and presto, instant classic!
Kolo makes a varity of well crafted scrapbooks, photo alums, and brag books that will make your Photoshop aged photograph look just as impressive to grandma as it will to your BFF. I’m not the only one that’s noticed them, they’re frequently featured in bridal magazines and I admit, part of the inspiration behind my decision to offer printed printed proofs with some of my packages.
I love hand corrected proofs, something that will soon be retro if the trend toward digital proofing continues. In my personal experience, when I take pictures of friends and family and burn them a disk or e-mail them a digital file, it gets lost. I send it again and a year later when they ask, “where is that photo you took when,” and then again and again. On the other hand, give someone a tangible photograph and if they lose it, at least it’s in the box of loose prints that lives in their closet and not gone for good if you no longer have the file. Plus, your wedding invitations just won’t look right glued into your collage style coffee table book!

These precious little brag books make great wedding favors!
