It’s been a while since I’ve done pets of the week. During my downtime, people have let me know that the pet of the week portraits were appreciated.  Yesterday, I learned I won the Ennis Daily News‘ 2010 Readers Choice Best of the Best in the Photographer category!  I’m told it’s a response to my pet of week pictures that where also published weekly in the EDN and Waxahachie Daily Light. Thank you community members for encouraging me to continue by going out and voting.

I’ve sworn off working except for my clients until I’m caught up so I only took a couple shots.  The models, who are getting married this weekend, were a fantastic couple. It was nice of them to take time to pose for us right before their big day.

Yesterday, I took part in a wine and cheese sampling hosted by the Ellis County SPCA.  I donated prints of many of the pets I’ve shot for them along with some handmade frames from Bali.  I’m proud to say the event raised nearly $500.  I didn’t take any pictures but check out the SPCA’s blog for more information or to sign up to volunteer if you’re local.

Last month I photographed local heroes for IMPACT Ennis, the local chapter of Drug Prevention Resources. They created an ad campaign that spotlights community leaders who work to make homes safe by keeping alcohol out of the hands of Ennis’ children. The photographs I took are for a billboard campaign — the first of four went up yesterday!

In addition to the billboards, the campaign includes a one-minute, film style commercial that was written, filmed and directed by local videographer Marshall Hinsley. It couldn’t be more perfect! Humorously summing up the campaign’s message, the video will be used to inform people why, how and where to sign up.

This weekend I shot Sydney and Kris’ engagement session in Shreveport, LA.  I’ll post some more later!
