Last month I photographed local heroes for IMPACT Ennis, the local chapter of Drug Prevention Resources. They created an ad campaign that spotlights community leaders who work to make homes safe by keeping alcohol out of the hands of Ennis’ children. The photographs I took are for a billboard campaign — the first of four went up yesterday!

In addition to the billboards, the campaign includes a one-minute, film style commercial that was written, filmed and directed by local videographer Marshall Hinsley. It couldn’t be more perfect! Humorously summing up the campaign’s message, the video will be used to inform people why, how and where to sign up.

This weekend I shot Sydney and Kris’ engagement session in Shreveport, LA.  I’ll post some more later!

The Ennis SAFE Homes Network is a network of Ennis families committed to providing safe, healthy homes for Ennis youth. It’s OK, I have an external hard drive.  My work is safe.  I may not be able to process photos or send in orders for a few days while a new hard drive is on the way, but at least I will still have photos to process when it comes in.

Yes, I’m being dramatic, but let this be a lesson.  Murphy’s Law is always lurking.  Please, please, please — if you opt for digital negatives instead of prints, especially for your wedding, make multiple copies of your photos and store them in more than one location.  Even better, order prints.  Who knows if USB, BluRay or even HDTV will be around in 20 years. But, you most likely will be and your photos will be even more important to you then. Make sure you have them around, who knows, you may become famous. People will want to see you as the strapping young lad or lass you were before.
